The internet, broadband, www (browser and HTML) was recently topped the NBR Wharton list of the 'Top 30 Innovations of the last 30 years'. Tim Berners-Lee invented HTML as a physicist working at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics in Geneva, Switzerland. He wanted to create a way for researchers to be able to use the internet to collaborate and share information.
